This is a productive, vigorous sweet fig bred at the LSU program under the direction of Dr. O'Rourke and released by LSU years later as one of the official releases, and named in Dr. O'Rourke's honor. It was created to be an improved version of Celeste, the stated vision of the breeding program, and from which it is descended. There has been some confusion about this variety, and at least two major nurseries which sell figs appear to be selling a different version than the official release. The true O'Rourke's mature leaves should have 5 lobes, some leaves even have 2 small extra lobes. Good photos of the leaves are in some of the provided links.Similar Varieties
