Description
Eric Cairns notes that:
There are several figs in NZ synonymous with the Vlassoff, and they are Anne Stewart, Athenree Dark, Ron's Berry Patch, and Peter Cave's Wanganui fig (a.k.a. Cave's 100yr Wanganui fig and Caves Wanganui fig [NZTCA 22 in the data base]).
"Vlassoff was named after the oldest connection I could find at the time, a work colleague's mother at Fielding, 1940's. This fig now appears identical to the Cave family fig going back to Wanganui in the late 1800s. It is a large San Pedro type, with dark skin, and very popular in the markets."
