Description
The fig tree 'Euchária Preta' is a uniferous variety, of the Smyrna type. The 'Euchária Preta' trees are semi-erect trees, with a tendency to form stems at the foot, with medium roots. Tree of medium vigor; few Root cones positioned on the trunk and very prominent; branches with semi-erect bearing, with a tendency to curve; color of the epidermis of the trunk ashen; terminal bud of medium size and conical shape, with the color of the scales light green.
The leaves have an average blade length of 19.9 cm and a width of 20.1 cm, with an average length / width ratio (0.99); little hairiness both on top and underside, brightness of the medium top, and green color on underside with a slightly lighter tone than on top; 3-lobed majority predominance on leaves, latata lobe shape, serrated margin, sagitata base shape; petiole of medium size (9.2 cm) and light green in color.
The fruit is generally formed after pollination by Blastophaga Psenes producing a crop of medium-sized figs, they are oblong in shape, not symmetrical; Medium striae with large ostiolar size, ostiolar opening present, ostiolar drop absent, small ostiolar scales, color of ostiolar scales the same color as the fruit skin; Minimal skin cracks, skin shine present, medium lenticel size, absent fruit hairiness, its epidermis has a purple background color and on the color of regular green bands, medium skin texture; color of the receptacle (mesocarp) white, color of the pulp dark red; succulence of the tall pulp, very small or absent internal cavity, numerous achenes of medium size and very good taste; Quality fruits resistant to handling, average weight 56.9 gr, with a number of fruits in between. They mature early.
According to Ira J. Condit indicates that both 'Castelhana Branca' and 'Castelhana Preta' are synonymous with 'Inchário' ('Euchário' according to Condit), but these are different varieties, both white and Black . These are two Smyrna types from Portugal.
Figaholics: Smyrna type from Portugal, reportedly the highest quality variety sold in markets. Our tree produced large fruits with a very sweet figgy flavor, chewy texture, and moderate seed crunch. Seems to have more of a closed eye than most Smyrna types.

"Harvey,
Thank you for commenting.
Yes, although having a somehow thin skin it takes transport well in short distances. It' common to have them trucked from the south to the northern bigger towns -150 to 400 km or more. For the coming two to three weeks the markets shall be full of this variety..There are others but this one makes well over 90% of all fresh figs sold. People love it and it's a very high quality fig. Difficult to explain exactly why but when eating these Inchários you seem never to be satisfied !! "
