The fig tree ‘Mare DE Dèu’ is a uniferous variety of the Common Fig type. Medium development tree, with rounded crown, and dense elongated branch. Its leaves are mostly whole without lobes (60%) and with 3 lobes (40%). Its leaves with teeth present and serrated margins. The figs ‘Mare DE Dèu’ have a urceolada (longitudinal elliptical) shape, slightly rounded that have a tendency to flatten by the ostiolus as they mature, large, with ease of detachment. They have a good percentage of figs rigged, they are symmetrical in shape and variable in size. The apical bud is conical reddish yellow.
The figs ‘Mare DE Dèu’ are about 39.6 grams on average, of epidermis of thin and strong thickness, with ease of peeling, when ripe of diffuse Black background color and the matt Black envelope. Ostiolo of 3 to 5 mm with medium reddish scales. Peduncle of 2 to 5 mm cylindrical reddish. Scarce and variable cracks. Poor ribs. With a ºBrix (sugar grade) of 28, sweet and tasty flavor, with low medium firmness, with dark red flesh color. With small internal cavity, with few medium achenes. The figs ripen on September 2 to October 12, being very productive. They are resistant to rain and dew, and the opening of the ostiolus.

I have ripened a few on my first year tree and each one has been excellent. Deep red interior, thick and jammy, split resistant, complex flavor... I really like the purple staining it gets near the skin. The one below was not quite ripe but I knocked it off trying to put a bag on it. There was still some sap but it was still awesome. It is a really high quality fig in my climate. It also looks like MP also rated it highly. This variety has a secure spot in my collection.
The color of the skin on this one is marbled with some gray but the earlier ones were jet Black .

According to the description of the Catalan site Local Varieties of the Balearic Islands, Mare DE Déu is very similar to Bordissot Negra.
