Description
Zaffiro is an Italian variety. It is a dark purple in color fig with a caramel flesh appeal and sugary consistency. It sometimes puts out a slight citrus note. It has a very small or closed eye. The leaves are mostly broad five fingers on each. Its a great variety for the South as it is pretty much resistant to rains and humidity. Prolific and vigorous grower.
Zaffiro from Nikky is an excellent sugar fig. One of VERY few that I am keeping in my collection.

Zaffiro comes from Nikky in Italy. What a unique variety consisting of a honey flavor with a dark purple skin. It’s really sweet and good. Not sugar sweet like LSU Purple or Kadota. It’s common and vigorous growing.
