Description
Green Kalamata could possibly be the ultimate desert fig. One would be hard pressed to find a fruit of any type whatsoever, that is as sweet as this fig is. The Kalamata is 80 gms of pure, Mandarin Orange flavored syrup. Three times sweeter than cane sugar.
The fruit ripens at the end of July on the west coast. The skin of the tennis-ball sized fig is very soft and flavorful.
The tree is a robust grower, and it bears heavily. It is purported to be a Common Fig , but growers in non Wasp inhabited areas report the figs are aborted prior to ripening.
