Description
Meteorito is a wild seedling that was discovered near Thermalito, Calif. I believe it to be a Smyrna . The fruit has the flavor and consistancy of Cinnamon-Cherry Jelly Belly candies. I haven't found it to be a real robust growing cultivar without being grafted to diferent rootstock. The mother tree was tiny when I found it in the back-country, and it hasn't put on significant growth over the last three years.
The fruit from the tree is simply outstanding. It was rated by attendees at the two Calif fig tastings in 2019 as being in the top two for flavor, when pitted against over 60 other varieties.
