Description
This was found growing in the fence at one of his friends house and neither he nor the neighbor planted it and it grew since they lived there so this is a confirmed seedling.
The first pic is Ed’s from last year. The next are mine from today. If I had waited a couple more days, it would have been even more red but I was afraid it would bust open and spoil or I would lose it to birds so I went ahead and picked it.
The skin is very thin. The flavor was very similar to Unk. Pastiliere with a definite Tart cherry and a raspberry finish. Having just eaten a UP this morning, I was quite surprised by the similarity in flavor but the Raspberry Tart won today because it was also a little bit sweeter than UP.
If this is a common fig, it will be amazing. We may know this year but I am not sure. I have some new double bumps and I’ll wrap a branch in pantyhose and try to ripen them as the trees sent out of wasp land don’t look like they will ripen this year.
I forgot to take pics of the leaves but they are quite distinct with longish leaves that are serrated and beautiful
