Description
Angelito is every bit as incredibly good this year as last... It once again trounced all other contestants from among my 700 fig trees for the title of 'Best of Show' for flavor in our clime (NorCal 9b). It ripens here about the first of August. The taste is an intense sweet berry, like Bourjasotte Gris on steroids, but it has a bright fruity essence as well that makes it absolutely delicious! The little tree seemed unable to do any wrong at all... it was superbly prolific, producing a fairly large fig at every leaf node on the tree; there was not a single case of splitting or souring in any fig whatsoever.

Eddie Sleem 1-8-2025:
Angelito take the entire spotlight. It also had a super dry fig still on the tree. It was pretty much hollow inside like an actual dried fig. Did not look like any previous Irene Black Greek from this tree, and the brix was off the charts. The Angelito brix was also off the charts. One of them was around 57, and it was super dry. And very dark inside. These figs were like chewing hard syrup, but their distinct flavor remained.
