Description
Eric Durtschi, July 32, 2023:
I found this tree in winter 2018. This is my favorite Caprifig because of the massive amount of pollen that it produces. I was so hopeful that it would ripen them outside of Wasp land!!! Interestingly, this variety seems to be resistant to the actual fig Wasp . I have tried seeding the tree but have never found any wasps in them. Not sure what’s going on but it produces an incredible amount of pollen.
GxY and Yanonali are synonyms. Me and another friend were sending these out under different names.
The tree has held 100% of its Profichi . His Girsh has held 75% and they are close to ripening.
Having found 2 caprifigs in Santa Barbara that appear to be Persistent (Yanonali) or partially Persistent (Girsh) is pretty crazy. It also helps explains why we have found so many common seedlings!
I will be using Yanonali to breed some new varieties!
