Description
Shasta Strawberry is an exciting fig variety discovered by David Burke, also known as "The Fig Hunter," in Shasta County, California. This variety was found growing at the base of a large oak tree in an open lot. It is characterized by its slightly chewy skin and bright red, gelatinous interior with a crunchy texture. The fig has a sweet strawberry flavor reminiscent of strawberry candies.
The figs from the Shasta Strawberry variety are described as medium-sized and have a rich, strawberry-like flavor. The super ripe figs also have a hint of cinnamon. The fig's eye is notably sealed with a red drop of rich strawberry nectar, enhancing its flavor and appeal. This variety is highly praised for its unique taste and is considered one of the best-tasting figs discovered by The Fig Hunter.
David Burke: Highlighted the fig's unique flavor, describing it as having a fresh, sweet strawberry taste with hints of cinnamon. He noted that it is one of the top five best-tasting figs he has ever had.
