The fig features dark purple, velvety skin that melts in the mouth, enhancing its creamy complexity. The flavors include deep vanilla, akin to a strong maple flavor, with undertones of pecan, making it a standout among fig varieties. The flesh has a creamy texture, and the taste has been compared to pecan pie by some evaluators.
Introduced by Sacred Origin, this variety has quickly gained popularity due to its unique flavor profile and appealing appearance. Despite being relatively new, Amelia's Vanilla Cream has become a favorite among fig enthusiasts for its distinct taste and excellent eating quality.
Growers appreciate Amelia's Vanilla Cream fig for its strong, deep vanilla flavor and creamy texture. The tree is noted for its vigorous growth and adaptability to container growing. It produces a prolific summer crop with soft, dark purple skin and a small, open eye, making it a desirable addition to any fig collection.
The1FigMan June 17, 2020:
Amelia's Vanilla Cream has that wonderful base fig taste with concentrated flavors vanilla to the point of nearly being almost maple. The vanilla flavors are highlighted with tastes of honey while there are small notes of pecans. The very thin purple skin has the feel of velvet which dissolves resulting in an ultra creamy texture of the fruit.
Some have made an analogy of the taste to be like a heaping teaspoon of custard pecan pie -- the strong flavors of maple and vanilla sweetened with honey.
