Description

This fig produces a large crop of attractive yellow-skinned figs with sweet amber to light red flesh. The fruits are initially light green and turn yellow as they ripen from late July to early September. A single tree can produce 10 to 15 pounds of tasty figs.

I have grown LSU Gold for about 6 years. It produces a nice-sized, honey-type fig. The fruit tastes like pears and honey, if ripened in dry weather. In rainy periods, the flavor will water down. In my zone, 7-B, I find this fig is better inground rather than a pot as it will be less impacted by rainy periods. I really like the flavor, so this one is a keeper for me. I have it both inground and potted.

Roots fast and easy, Easy to air layer, Grows fast and hard, Shy in ground to full ripe first couple years, Will Spit in Rainy environments, Cold Tolerance is good, Very good Rootstock. Fruit can be mushy. Ripens in Fall. I would not recommend this variety, better options out there.
