Description

This fig was discovered by Sandy Battaglia in Virginia Beach, Virginia. An Italian couple brought the original cuttings from Italy. Sandy was able to take cuttings before the couple sold their home. The new owners cut down the original tree. Sandy brought her trees to Sally Mays who at the time owned Paradise Nursery in Virginia Beach. For many years Sally sold this variety. The "real" name is Unknown . Sally closed Paradise Nursery in 2006 and she is now selling her personal farm where one of the last original remaining trees resides.

This fig is great in hot climates. It is very vigorous grower in pots. It fruits very early and abundantly. Tastes like Strawberry Jam. In zone 9a it tastes exactly like strawberry verte but SV didnt grow as well here in pots. One of my favorite figs and the best adriatic to grow in my hot dry climate. It lacks complexity or an acidic bite but makes up in simple fruity flavor and abundant figs.

Battaglia Green is a tasty green fig that is hardy and bears large numbers of brilliant green figs. The figs have a dark interior for a green fig. The fig is similar to Strawberry Verte, but reportedly superior in taste. The fruits are medium-sized and hold up well to rain and humidity. It is also easier to root than most.
