Description
The Beers Black fig tree (Ficus carica 'Beer's Black ') (Ficus carica dwarf Hybrid ) is a Deciduous dwarf in stature, very vigorous with an upright growing habit and has an above average resistance to leaf diseases. Figs are medium- sized with a reddish-pink center and a violet exterior skin. A fine, medium, Black fig that is a splendid performer. The deep red flesh is sweet and has a distinct flavor. It has a medium sized eye and is excellent either fresh or dried. Fairly Hardy and well adapted to the South and Southwest. Beer's Black is to ‘Violette DE Bordeaux,’ and one of the best figs for eating and making preserves. Makes a wonderful addition to your potted container collection or plant directly into the ground in your outdoor garden.
The origins of Beer's Black are a mystery, but the excellent fruit proves why it continues to be a popular variety today!

Based upon genetic testing performed in 2010, Beer’s Black ( DFIC 277), DE -bordeaux">Violette DE Bordeaux ( DFIC 63) and Vista ( DFIC 259) were determined to be synonyms. See Genetic structure and differentiation in cultivated fig (Ficus carica L.)
