DFIC 229.  French origins.  Name translates to 'round of Bordeaux' ,  a self-descriptor, as this fig is small and quite round, from the Bordeaux region. 

It is a very early ripener,  often the first main crop fig to ripen in many locales.  The fruit is top-tier and highly prized in most types of environments, wonderfully ripening figs even in cooler zones, but it tends to sour when grown in very high temperatures. (temps north of 104*F)   It possesses a nice strong berry flavor.  

The cultivar is a robust grower, and a prolific fruiter...  able to deliver nice sized crops even after severe die-back over winter.  Bluemalibu
