Description
The Brunswick fig is a large Deciduous shrub that can grow up to 10 feet tall and 12 feet wide. It produces medium to large, pear-shaped fruits that are green-yellow with purple flushes. The flesh of the fruit is typically amber to light brown, with some shades of red when fully ripe. The flavor is sweet with a hint of honey and mild berry notes, making it a popular choice for fresh consumption and preserves.
Brunswick figs thrive in USDA zones 7 to 9 and are known for their cold hardiness, capable of withstanding temperatures down to 5°F. They prefer well-drained soil and full sun exposure. The trees are Self-Fertile , meaning they do not require another tree for pollination, and they can produce one crop per year, sometimes two in hot summers or under protection.
