I began collecting starter fig trees in October, I have 20 now in my collection, didn't realize the addiction that came with them. I'm focusing on the different varieties that do well here in SW Florida's heat, humidity, and rain. I've got all of my figs in 15g pots to protect them from the nematodes and so I can bring them in for storms. I'm excited to look around, get to know everyone, share, and learn!

Hi Sukimu! It is quite the addiction! I am currently growing Celeste, vdb, negronne, beers black (I learned that vdb, bb, and negronne were the same after buying them!), black mission, c's red, lsu gold, lsu purple, ischia, panache, magnolia, yellow long neck, magnolia, miss hall, Smith, clbc, olympian, kadota, lattarula, and a mystery fig that had no tag. They are all growing well, they all just took off over the past few weeks when it got warm. Some of them have gained over 6", my slowest, (magnolia and lsu gold) have only put on an inch or two. I'm very excited to watch them grow. They're filling my lanai in 15g pots so that I can save them from birds, critters, and most bugs, especially those nematodes. What are you growing?

Welcome to both of you. I to am from South Florida. I tested a few varieties when I first started a couple of years ago, quit and now I'm starting again but only with those that really stand out here and those I miss so much. I'm also bringing back a couple that didn't do so well but they were so good I have to try again.

FiggyD the varieties you have are nice to start off with. You will notice and learn which will do well and which won't. In the end, they will help you learn more about figs, the mixes you use for them, which varieties like "our" full sun and which actually prefer a semi-shaded condition. There is a lot to learn.

One advice I can highly suggest is "don't let the addiction take over and have way too many trees to trial". One fig at a time.... fd
