Hey, it might be useful to have lists of where people are from. Different regions experience different climates, different obstacles, different challenges to overcome. This list might also be useful to organize a get-together some place, some time in the future. Who knows the possibilities? Please leave a comment with your name, location, and zone to get added to the list or private message me. Any additional information you wish to provide is welcome!

This list is for the hot and humid Southeastern United States, where summer rains are frequent and hurricanes abound!

Well i ordered one fig tree this spring when i got the first fig and tasted my Little miss figgies fig i was hooked! Now approaching winter i have 20 different varieties growing but missing an I-258 I would really like to grow. I jumped in completely after tasting my first fresh fig. Not many people growing in. My area in fact i personally know of none. I have also started my first cutting a Chicago hardy.
I am in zone 8A Prattville Alabama 20 miles north of Montgomery.

I have an I258 which I purchased this spring as a cutting. I can't believe how much it has grown over 6ft tall and had 21 large sweet figs on it.

I’m new to the site. I love figs, and we have one (I think) brown turkey that is bearing well. We got it at a plant sale at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello maybe 7 or 8 years ago, and I may be wrong on the variety - at the time I just wanted a fig in the garden, and it was the most healthy looking fig at the sale. We got about 10 more varieties as cuttings this spring that are now in the ground. Looks like one of them, a Lyndhurst White, will have a single fig this summer, if it doesn’t fall off.

We live in central Virginia, between Richmond and Charlottesville, zone 7a. I’m not yet very knowledgeable about figs but I’m looking forward to learning more. We have quite a few fruit trees/shrubs on the property, including apples, cherries, peaches, pears, plums, gooseberries, red and black currants, hardy kiwi, grapes, che, semi-domesticated black raspberry, and paw paws. Some are bearing, some are still too young. We are lucky to be fairly close to Edible Landscaping, and got many of our fruits from them. They have a number of mature trees and they allow customers to try the fruits off the tree. It’s a fantastic place - highly recommended for anyone in the area.

If someone still moderates the list you can add me. I'm in central NC, now considered zone 8a (formerly 7b but I don't see the difference in any plants I grow.)

The database here is what brought me but I'm happy to see forums also.
Best to all,
Shoe
